The Torrents have a show on the third. 919 W 36th St, Baltimore, Maryland 21211. The cost is $6. The joy you will feel is priceless.
I’ll be there, assuming I’m not dead. I’m sick. Again. General sinus stuffiness and overall muscle ache and sense of blah. I’m warm and dizzy, but if you asked anyone they’d tell you that neither is really that different than normal. I’d shake my fist at those people but I haven’t got the strength.
Someone needs to come over to my house, fetch me juice, rub my back, and praise me. Tell me I’m pretty and pet my head and say things like “no, that’s not completely implausible at all” even when it’s so obvious that it is implausible. I don’t even know what “it” is at this point. It’s just a for-instance.
See, this is how I know I’ll live. I’m in full-scale whine mode. It’s when I stop complaining that you really need to worry.

Waited forever for the bus, so I missed the train by seconds. I ended up going to 7-11 and getting a nice hot drink and waited for the next Hunt Valley train. I wouldn’t be late; I just wouldn’t be as early as I like to be.
Until we got near Warren Road. The signal arm that stops traffic was caught in the overhead wires that power the trains. Traffic moving up to Hunt Valley was stopped. Traffic going away from Hunt Valley wasn’t sure what was going on. Traffic on Warren Road was moving along at a nice clip.
The flashing lights that warn that a train is coming overrides the traffic signals. Because the arm was stuck in the air nothing would change. The bar on the other side of the street wouldn’t go up, the people staring at the stuck arm wouldn’t go forward, and the Northbound and Southbound trains just sat there.
Eventually they said we could sit on the train and wait, or we could get off and go to the bus stop and catch the 9 to keep going North. Everyone got off the train.
Oh, except there wouldn’t be a northbound bus for a while, because it was caught in the traffic that was sitting behind the gate.
So I walked. According to Gmaps Pedometer it’s about a mile and a half, which isn’t bad, but not what you want to be doing in the morning when you weren’t expecting it. I’m just glad I’m wearing sneakers today instead of my boots. I’m also glad that I tend to shun the suggested dress code in favour of jeans. There’s sidewalk, but most of it is covered in mud and melting snow pushed up by plows. It’s also warm, so there’s a lot of runoff.
As they say: Could be worse. Could be raining.
Now I’m hot and I think I possibly smell. Fortunately no one needs to see me today.

The CD Writer on my computer was dead. I bought a CD/DVD drive today. It doesn’t burn either format, but it plays back both and that’s all I care about. I don’t need a DVD burner (and should I ever, my roommate has one) and I can burn CDs on the notebook.
I didn’t really need a DVD player on this computer. We have one. My roommate has one. The notebook plays them. But it was the only thing they had. There wasn’t a single “Just a CD-ROM” or “Just a CD/Read-Write” to be found.
Kitti and I got this one installed, which was kind of a surprise. Normally hardware and I don’t get along. But it went right in and started right up and it works.
We also ate at the tapas restaurant again. This time asparagus, vegetable paella, spinach, garlic bread, and I had chicken sauteed in white wine and garlic. We also got a pitcher of Sangria.
Kitti bought a book about the band Suede and I bought the current Vanity Fair. I only buy it for the pictures.
It might be one of the best days ever. The fact that tomorrow’s also a day off really helps.

My commute fills me with rage.
And hate.
And hatey rage.
And cold.

The Torrents’ show is tonight.

You’re going. You know you are.
Remember: The more people in the club the warmer it’ll be. Come early and get a good spot, see a good show, and tell everyone who’ll listen how much you love The Torrents.
