You Should Be a Science Fiction Writer

Your ideas are very strange, and people often wonder what planet you’re from.
And while you may have some problems being “normal,” you’ll have no problems writing sci-fi.
Whether it’s epic films, important novels, or vivid comics…
Your own little universe could leave an important mark on the world!

Save NPR and PBS

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

President Bush just proposed drastic cuts to NPR and PBS. We’ve stopped similar cuts in the past, but enough is enough: With the new Congress, we can make sure this never happens again.

We need Congress to save NPR and PBS once and for all.

Can you help out by signing this petition to Congress? It’s really easy—just click the link below:

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

February is usually the month in which we get the most snow. I think this winter it’s been the only month. It’s looking pretty festive outside right now.

Boy. I can’t wait until they start Daylight Saving Time well before the first day of spring!

I’m bitter about this whole “Spring Forward” thing. Moreso this year than any other year in the past. Mostly because it’s already dark when I leave for work in the morning, but at least the sun’s come up by the time I get to work. After we “spring forward” an hour it’ll just be dark.

I’ve always hated it, anyhow. What I’d really like is an extra hour of dark at night because otherwise I’m standing on a bus stop with no shade in the burning sunlight. And it freaks me out when the sun’s still not completely set at 9pm.

Oh, right. Snow. Sure is snowing out there. Yep.

If I believed in god, I’d consider this a sign.

  • The story must have a vampire in it. The story must involve a trash can in it.

Got it!

Bridge to Terabithia

I hate the ads for this movie. I hate them with a hate that’s unmeasured on the hate scale. I hate them because they make it look nothing like the book. Like it’s “based on the concept” and not the book itself.

Some of the buzz is that the film is actually faithful to the book, including the end. If that’s the case, there are going to be a lot of unhappy parents when the film’s over and they’re faced with crying children.

Me being the evil being that I am, this pleases me.

If, you know, the film ends the way the book does.

The Time Has Come

I need another tattoo. Yes, I need another. I have three and one day I would like to have nine of them, which means I have to get six more.

The problem is… I’ve got three choices and I like them all for different reasons and I will ultimately make the decision myself, but just out of curiosity, I’d like to see what other people think.

The images and the poll are after the jump. Feel free to use the comments to say more.
