I wish people would learn
That line breaks in places
That seem unlikely
Does not
Make
It
Poetry.
I don’t even subscribe
To the theory
That all poetry must
Rhyme
But writing
Like this
Makes me think
You talk
Like a Valley Girl
And every
Line
Must end
With an Uptalk inflection
Like you’re asking
A question

IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT
THAT FOR YOU, I MUST SHOUT.
IF I TYPE IN ALL CAPS
I’D BE A WHITE BOY WHO RAPS?
Nope… poetry just isn’t my bag. Nevermind.

but this just represses
my inclinations
and deliberately stifles
my observations
although i respect that
your attitude’s zealous
i can’t help but feel
you’re simply just jealous

A poem should rhyme
Most of the time
And not have white space
All over the place
BURMA SHAVE
(by the way I think you have actually written a pretty nice poem)

With an Uptalk inflection
Like you’re asking
A question
Almost rhymes.
