I’m a registered voter. I’m registered as a member of the Green party. Can I still vote in the Primary election?

The game is fixed. The true mayoral election is November 6,2007.

In short - you can only vote if a Green Candidate is running (against another Green, otherwise there’s no choice.) Everyone can vote in the General Election, for anyone in any party. Trust Mr not-a-citizen to look it up!
trust Mr Not-A-Citizen to have more interest in our election system than how many million Mr. Citizens-but-I-don’t-vote-because-it-makes-no-difference-anyhow-and-I-don’t-want-jury-duty-but-I’ll-complain-if-I-don’t-like-the-way-things-are-going.
I have to wait in line behind these useless bits-o-society while they write checks in the 10 items or less lane at the supermarket. Takes 10 minutes to do the signature!
Soapbox, deactivate.
And since there are only Democrats running, the mayor will be decided on September 11th.
But, hey, it looks like you might be getting our former police chief. Police Chief Ramsey is leaving DC to be chief of Baltimore if he’s offered the job. I work in a federal building across the street from Union Station. I used to see Chief Ramsey almost once a week on my way to lunch… I think he’d like it in Baltimore. :)
Jury duty seems to be reserved for Not-a-Citizens. Before Vicky got her citizenship, she easily got 1 or 2 jury surveys a year while on her green card. I joked with her that attorneys like nurses more than they like system administrators. Maybe that’s not entirely true. Since becoming a citizen two years ago, she hasn’t gotten tapped once for jury duty. …go figure?
Kitti’s gotten one jury summons once. He filled it out, said he was a legal resident alien, and they haven’t bothered him since. I get one fairly often, probably because I’m registered green. I’ve actually had to go a few times, but never been picked for a jury. Thankfully.
If I’m ever selected I plan to tell them that I can’t serve because everyone’s entitled to a jury of their peers, and “I’m clearly superior to this lot.”
Can you be held in contempt if it’s still pre-trial? Because I have a lot of contempt.
Yes, DA you can be held in contempt of court at any time, even sometimes outside the courtroom, depending on circumstances.
Ken, you’re up the street from me? I work at 400 North Capitol, that’s weird.
I like the “superior” line, may have to use it myself. “Your honor, I’m not eligible, because if it’s a jury of peers, I’m not married to a relative, have a college education, and define personal care as a daily event, not weekly!” Not the same line, but the same effect.
I’ve served on one jury, and after that experience, will avoid it at all costs. Won’t bore you with details though.
