Today I attempted something new. I cooked. See, most people who know me will tell you that when I cook it usually means something will get burned. Sometimes things will catch on fire. The results will usually not be edible.

This doesn’t apply to baking. I’m great at that. I just never get much of an opportunity to do it because Kitti is vegan and vegan cakes and cookies taste really bad (generally speaking).

Anyhow, today I made vegan potato leek soup and IT IS REALLY GOOD.

I did it myself. The only thing Kitti did was peel the potatoes. All the rest was me.

Mim, I’d tell you I’d save some for you to try, but you’ll probably have to come over tomorrow after work to get some of it. Or possibly even tonight. Kitti tasted it and approved.

  2. Go YOU! Now you can claim baking and soup. Far as I’m concerned those are two major food groups right there.

What is the difference in baking vegan? I mean you make a righteous coffee cake. If I could count on one of those I’d make an effort to see you more often, and bring the monkey along too.

April is a fairly decent queen of the soup. Although vegans would run away from anything she’s concocted. Not me. Must satisfy the carnivore within.

  4. Baking vegan means no milk, no egg, no butter… egg-free egg substitute, non-dairy milk, and margarine just don’t work the same. Too watery, for one thing. Too likely to burn. Most often it just tastes like foam.
