What Was I Thinking?

Signed up for NaNoWriMo and I don’t know why. I get all inspired and wound up and ready for it and then November first hits and I just collapse.

Anyhow. NaNoWriMo. This year my approach is going to be a whole hell of a lot of short stories. Original stuff, interconnected in some way. Think television episodes. A core cast of characters, a common location. Now, if you’d please, leave me lots and lots of comments containing plotbunnies. Things you’d love to see me write (that ain’t fanfic).

If you lot start saying things like “oh, I don’t know. Something with a table in it” I will HURT YOU.

Cait the Cat

Cait, the grey and white cat that’s been living on our porch since the loss of her home, is now in our basement. The cold and rain got the better of us and we rationalised the move by saying things like “It’ll get her used to being in a house” and “we can make sure she’s litter trained” and things like that.

She’s also got a full and proper name now. Caitlin McCat. I’d been calling her Kate, then Kitti started calling her Caitlin. “McCat” is because he said “Caitlin the cat” and I misheard him.

Anyhow, she’s available to any good home and if you’re in Maryland and want to come pick her up, just leave me a comment and we can email to discuss it.

Our actual cats are surprisingly unconcerned. Maybe they’ve just mellowed with age. Still, I’m not going to risk letting Cait roam the house. The basement is very warm and cozy and she’s got everything she needs there.

I support your squadron in this event of sporting.

We were at Slainte last night and there was a group of South Africans ripping it up at the bar. They were loud and obnoxious and shouting and singing.

“Oh, I guess South Africa won the Rugby World Cup” said Kitti.

He was right.

I don’t know how he knows these things.

Little-known actor Chris Pine has been chosen to play the young Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek movie.

The film, which chronicles the early days of the Enterprise crew, will be released in the US on 25 December 2008. The Paramount Pictures film is expected to begin shooting in November.

The movie will show the crew meeting at the Starfleet Academy and embarking on their first mission.
