Sunday we’re going back to Stafford to choose our dog. Dog willing we’ll be able to identify our sweet boy from the last visit and no one else will have claimed him. I’m banking on the fact that most people won’t want a calm, quiet observer and his rowdier siblings will be selected first.

We’re not going to take him home on Sunday. We’re not quite that ready yet. Kitti and I need to figure out who’s going to take time off when - we’ve decided that we won’t take the same days off, so each of us has time to bond with the dog and not overwhelm him with things. We also need to go shopping and buy things like his crate and bowl and collar and leash and food.

Another reason for the wait is because Gizmo is on antibiotics still. She has a vet appointment on Saturday and I’m going to ask if she’s okay and not contagious/a hazard for a new puppy with a baby immune system. She’s obviously well enough to not have to be isolated from the other cats, but the other cats aren’t really likely to … oh… eat her poo (one of the reasons we’re going to crate train the dog - it’ll keep him out of the litter).

I’m really excited about this - as evidenced by my nearly complete lack of emotion or reaction.
