I’m really getting tired of SGU.
There are spoilers, so…
I know they wanted to do something different with it — something darker and “edgier” but the general soap-opera nature of it is really not working for me. I don’t want a sex scene each episode! And last night’s episode was particularly skeevy.
I also don’t care at all about the characters. I don’t even know who half of them are and it has a lot to do with the fact that they’re all wooden and boring and have no real personality to define them and most of them don’t seem to care that they’re acting. Robert Carlyle is the only one who seems to have thrown himself into the part. He’s got layers, man. You can tell he’s motivated by something — even if it’s just the urge to chew the scenery. Everyone else… let’s just say I’ve seen better at the high school drama level. They all seem to be going through the motions without actually knowing or caring or feeling their character.
The writers and producers should also take a lesson from Joss Whedon and Russell T Davies — introduce us to someone, make us really care about them, and then kill them off. Then at least when someone who’s obviously a Main Cast Member is in peril we’ll actually worry that they might not get out of it.
And then, for the love of dog, don’t bring them back to life. Seriously. They almost did a brilliant thing with Carson Beckett and then caved in. It’s a lot more interesting to watch a show when you can’t know that one of the Away Team isn’t going to make it back. SGA only managed this in the last season because I knew it was the last season and they knew it was the last season, so it was easy to think they pulled out all the stops.
I really think I might have to break up with Stargate Universe. It’s just not working for me.

Get out of my head! Uh, I mean… AGREE (1).
they have 3 weeks left in the \you get 8 weeks to wow me\ category. So far, not exceptionally impressed. I predicted the ending of \Darkness\ at the end of the previous episode \oh, it recharges by passing through a star\ Agree on the sex scene thing…bring back the boots method of showing sex in SciFi. I mean, a quick shift of location with a quick cutaway would have been fine, not the ride on cowboy that we were seeing.
Oh, and we get that Eli is a geek….It’s like introducing a new kid to a series to kill it off. They started out this way.
