Lost Data

Lost Data - Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

“Please note the following warranty limitations:

LaCie does not guarantee, under any circumstances, the integrity of the data contained on the drives you send back. LaCie does not, under any circumstances, ensure data recovery and cannot be held liable for any loss of data remaining on the unit or the media you send back. For this reason we strongly recommend you ensure your data is saved elsewhere before returning your drive.”

I understand that you can’t ENSURE data recovery, but that still doesn’t mean that there is NO CHANCE of data recovery. Please forward this to whoever handles your documentation and ask them to change the wording to more accurately reflect policy.

I guess it’s my fault for not having a backup of my backup… or assuming that “repair” didn’t mean “replace”. Because believe me, if it would have been possible to back up my data before sending it in for repair, I would have. Of course, if I had been able to back up the data it wouldn’t have needed repair.
