High Def, Almos Def. Also, New Phones.

High Def, Almos Def. Also, New Phones. - Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I finally replaced the nearly 10-year-old cordless phone. Kitti has been pestering that we need a new one and today we got it into our heads that we’d go buy one. This new one comes with two handsets and a second charger so one handset can remain downstairs and charged. It’s got a nice display, and the caller ID actually talks. It’s a little creepy sounding, but it’s good if you don’t want to get up and wander over to where the phone is to find out who’s calling. If the number is stored in the phone’s book it’ll recite the name I saved for it. Otherwise it just says whatever the call display is.

It seems silly to not only have a phone but two phones when the only calls we ever get are either my mom, or Kitti’s parents and sister. None of them call more often than once a week — and my mom actually prefers to use email or IM, so sometimes she calls me more like once a month. Kitti typically uses his cell phone to call his family.

We still have the land line mostly for the fax machine.

We’re also discussing whether or not to buy a high-def TV. We don’t plan to upgrade to HD cable, and we’re really not going to get a Blu Ray player. It’s really just a matter of wanting a thinner, lighter television. Though the improved picture quality won’t hurt.
