Wherein Our Hero Knits A Sock - Monday, May 10th, 2010
At the end of April, I posted that Knit Picks had a sock yarn called Time Traveler and that it was about time I learned to make socks. Lori reminded me about Silver’s Sock Class, which I’d used in earlier attempts to make socks (on DPNs, cuff-down) and had actually worked for me (except I would get distracted and wander off and lose my place and have to start over).
This time I went for the toe-up on two circular needles. I started last night and after spending about 20-30 minutes trying to get the cast-on just right, it finally worked. So far I’ve only finished the toe and barely started the foot, but it’s going incredibly fast and easy. It looks a little weird at this point — more like a trapezoid than a sock toe — but looking at the photos, it’s entirely normal.
Kitti is pleased I’m finally learning to make socks. I’m not entirely sure why, but hey. Whatever.

Dude, I can totally understand why so many people go nuts for sock knitting. This is perfect “keep your hands busy without needing your brain” work.
SOCKS FOR EVERYONE THIS CHRISTMAS!

I like mine very long and quite narrow and not itchy. Just sayin.
