Surprise! Trip! - Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Despite the fact that Kitti is now officially one of the Unemployed, we’ve made the informed decision to go to New York City over Thanksgiving weekend to see The Cure. Because when we’re old it will be a lot more important to say “remember that time we went to New York to see The Cure?” [...]

Pardon me whilst I go head-desk - Saturday, February 12th, 2011

Good news: Get tickets to see a somewhat obscure Welsh band in a smallish place in Washington DC. Bad news: find out the show is the day before the Cherry Blossom festival starts, and essentially every hotel in your price range is utterly booked that weekend, except the ones that are in Alexandria, Virginia.

It’s ON. - Monday, August 9th, 2010

Tickets for Idlewild: Purchased. Two tickets for both nights. Hotel reservation: Made. Seats secured on the Megabus: Check. Is it November? No. Dammit! Watson, fetch my TimeSkip machine! And some jam.

Idlewild - Friday, July 30th, 2010

Idlewild is supposed to be playing the Bowery Ballroom the week of Thanksgiving, but so far the tickets haven’t gone on sale and the show hasn’t even been announced on the Bowery Ballroom’s website. Idlewild released the information, so it’s not just speculation and wild rumour, but the lack of further information is making me [...]

How I Spent My Weekend - Monday, July 26th, 2010

Aside from being hot and miserable through most of it, at least. Accomplished the knitting of a heel in a toe-up sock. Apparently the 37th time is the charm. Actually, it’s still not perfect. The picking-up of stitches didn’t go so well, so there are gaps. Also, maybe using size 1 needles wasn’t the best [...]

Baltimore Pride 2010 - Monday, June 21st, 2010

All the pictures are here. They’re mostly just of the parade (which was shorter this year) but there are some crowd shots. I tried to get video of a guy lip synching and doing the entire dance routine from Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” but I was using Kitti’s camera, which apparently doesn’t get capture sound. [...]

Addams Family: The Musical - Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

Over the weekend I was in New York City. Kitti has never been there, so we decided to make the most of the Memorial Day weekend and went. There are a ton of photos on Flickr if you’re interested. While we were there, we saw The Addams Family Musical which was better than I expected [...]

A Thing That Makes Me Sad - Monday, March 22nd, 2010

At Penn Station, the sign no longer goes clackety-clack It’s a whole lot quieter in Penn Station these days – no whirring sounds, no clickety-clack of an old-fashioned, mechanical signboard bringing the news that your train is 20 minutes late. In place of the iconic board above the main desk at Baltimore’s Amtrak station, there [...]

Philadelphia and Back Again - Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

On Monday, a Canadian and I were in a Japanese car, listening to a Scottish band, driving through Maryland and Delaware to go to Pennsylvania to see a Welsh band. We had Chinese food and Indian food during our stay. How’s that for multiculturalism? But seriously. Monday Kitti and I hit the road and drove [...]
