Dis or Dis?

I survived another birthday. I say “survived” because there was a Dalek Invasion.
Daleks, in case you were wondering, smell like lemon candy. They also look a little stressed. Probably because of the Doctor. You never forget your first Doctor. (Tom Baker)
I also have Ahistory: An Unauthorized History of the Doctor Who Universe (Second Edition).
In non-Who related gifts, there’s The Chains That You Refuse by Elizabeth Bear, Lapsing Into a Comma : A Curmudgeon’s Guide to the Many Things That Can Go Wrong in Print–and How to Avoid Them
by Bill Walsh, and a very cool Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder
, which is very cool and silly and easy.
We had dinner at Lebanese Taverna and oh. My. God. I wanna go back right now and just get nothing but falafel, hommos, and spinach pies.
… and coffee.
Mim got to see my new computer today. A few hours later she was buying one of her own. Go, Mim!
Anyhow, got the new ‘puter yesterday and set it up. Spent last night and part of today getting things installed and updated and it is NICE. It’s dead quiet, clean, and speedy.
The only thing putting a real downer on this weekend is the fact that I’ve officially put Gizmo on the “Oh, dear, she’s quite old, isn’t she” list.
Order? What order? From where is this order coming?
I bought a Dell. Dell let me customise the computer to suit my particular use, and even let me have Windows XP Pro as my OS. The shipping was free.
I didn’t get a super-big hard drive because I have an external one and I plan on moving the new one from the old computer (although I will likely need help with that. Daffydd?)
16X DVD+/-RW Drive which I totally don’t need, but hey. It was part of the package. Leaving it off wouldn’t have saved me any money.
Difficulty is going to be in getting it. Signature is required.
The home computer is dead again. Despite the repairs that Daffydd did. Now it’s failing to recognise the keyboard. Before it got to that point, though, it would start to open a program (or a file) and the screen would just go grey (the desktop colour - no icons, no menu bar, no response). Restarting the computer resulted in the “Keyboard not found” thing. It’s a new keyboard. I checked the connection. It worked before I restarted.
Conclusion: computer is dead. I was thinking about getting another notebook and then Kitti and I could both be totally portable, but if I get another tower I can put the new hard drive in the new computer. I could even move the DVD/CD drive over, since it’s fairly new.
Is anyone selling computers that DON’T come with Vista? Or should I just suck it up, get Vista, and then reinstall Windows XP?
Daffyd, Ken, Ken, Rob… I’m looking at all y’all first.
(Yes. I know. Windows = evil.)
I want to see a House MD/Being Human crossover, where George (the werewolf) is admitted and someone inevitably says “It could be Lupus” and then Mitchell (the vampire) cracks up laughing. Or House/Buffy-with-Oz. Or House/anything with a werewolf because dude. Come on.
